Our friends had perfectly cooked salmon which they said was delicious. My husband had a crab cake with lots of lump crab meat and those irresistible fries. Servers with bread baskets continually visit your table, offering you a delicious hearty raisin bread with a creamy white icing, blueberry muffins or the most amazing coconut muffins! For dinner I had the grilled swordfish, perfectly cooked with a lovely mild grilled flavor. Also we wanted to save room for the bread. We decided not to have appetizers since we had substantial lunches, and salads are included with your entrees. The guys ordered frozen pina coladas which were reasonably priced and very good. We probably would have been seated earlier, but we requested a table either outside or by a window. They don't accept reservations, but it was a Monday evening, so the wait in the bar was only half an hour. Later that evening we returned for dinner. And the fries-all I can say is that we ate off of each others plates until every single potato was gone. Both guys said that they were the best they've ever eaten. They were delicious, thick and juicy with a char-grilled flavor. The view was wonderful, and they have a great selection of frozen drinks. After boating on the bay, we stopped to have lunch outside. I am sure we will eventually return to the area.but we will not go to Harpoon Hanna's is a "has been" establishment.A vacation on the Eastern Shore is not complete without a visit to Harpoon Hanna's. I write many reviews as my wife and I dine out often.most are excellent.some are not.I just tell it like it is. I cannot even say it was a bad evening.as with food of that quality cannot be a one time error. This restaurant should be ashamed of themselves for charging people and representing fresh food.when it is the opposite of what they deliver. This restruant is in a prime location.and if ownership lost their compassion for the business.they should sell it to someone that has pride in their cooking and in their business. The entire cooking staff should be terminated.and if not.management should be fired. I love crab cakes.and years back they were excellent.no more! The restaurant is worn out, dated, far from clean and needs a fuill update of the menu and the cooking. My wife said that the scrimp and stuffing were frozen (not fresh) and I could not believe how much breading was in the crab cake (very little crab.lots of breading). I was amazed.and started to wonder about the restaurant as well as our decision to go back to Harpoon Hanna's. I asked her how the Mac and Cheese was (for a starch) and she smiled and said."honestly it is Stouffer's". Then I was unsure what side dish to order so I asked the server. It was now time to order.I ordered the crab cakes and my wife ordered the Stuffed Shrimp.although the place was empty (and somewhat dirty) we thought that the food would still be great. The first clue of a change was the waitress bringing to muffins (one each) and both cold and stale. In the past, someone would come around with fresh muffins to select from (various assortments) while you were ordering or waiting for your dinner. When we walked in.we immediately realized that we certainly did not need a reservation.the bar was empty and the hugh dining room only had 2 other tables.the place was essentially empty. We were truly looking forward to our visit after all of the years in the past. We moved to Florida several years ago and only returned to Bethany Beach and Rehoboth Beach this past November for business and made a reservation to re-visit Harpoon Hanna's. My wife and I use to live in Southern New Jersey and would travel to Ocean City 4 to 5 times per year for 4 day weekends.every stay included a few regular restaurants to visit for the great food.including Harpoon Hanna's.as we always had excellent meals in the past.
